This bottle opener is hand forged from a solid stock piece of 1/2" square x 4.5" long mild steel.
Through the forging process: the opener is heated to near 1750 degrees fahrenheit throughout the forging process several times, the handle has has deep groves placed on all sides by hand and chisel and the square cube variation applied, ball on the end of the handle was then created, usually next would be the time for any customization or personalization to take place if wanted, the next step is forming the opener circle or opening through slitting, then apply a drift to the slit for the appropriate diameter size of the opening then shaped and form the opener tab that grasps the bottle cap under the crimps. After forging opener the finishing and cleaning process begins; wax is then applied to the opener for a protectant. Due to the irregular shaped handle the opener is easy to grasp off of flat surfaces and is easily to firmly hold while in use and processes the inviting solid and certain feel that only the blacksmith forging process can create!
